Patrick M. Blanch

Patrick Blanch is a graduate of the George Washington University Law School.

Patrick has been recognized by his peers as a leading criminal defense attorney in Northern Virginia.  Patrick has been peer-selected as a Super Lawyer in Northern Virginia from 2017-2019.  Patrick has lectured regularly to classes of lawyers at continuing legal education seminars since 2008.   Since 2010, Patrick has been a contributing author to the legal treatise “Defense of Serious Traffic Cases in Virginia.”  Patrick is also active in the Fairfax Bar Association, where he serves on multiple Bar committees.  Patrick received the Fairfax Bar Association’s 2018 James Keith Public Service Award for longstanding dedication to public service

Patrick appears constantly in Northern Virginia trial courts.  He has tried cases as serious as murder and sexual assault and he has obtained acquittals or dismissals for clients charged with “life” offenses including rape and robbery.  Patrick has also focused his practice on DWI and drug cases.

Patrick is an experienced appeal lawyer for individuals who have been convicted at trial but who believe that the Court made errors during their trial.  Patrick has successfully briefed and argued numerous cases in the Supreme Court of Virginia and the Court of Appeals of Virginia.   For example, Patrick was trial counsel and appeal counsel in the case of Grant v. Commonwealth which held for the first time in Virginia that the accused has the right to be confronted by the technician who analyzed the alcohol sample in a DWI case.  Mr. Blanch has also served as a consultant for cases being argued at the United States Supreme Court.
