Here at Blanch & Hart PLLC we want to take a moment to acknowledge the historical importance of today, June 19, 2020. As I am sure you are all aware, the Governor has announced Friday, Juneteenth (June 19) as a statewide holiday. To learn more, please see the Governor’s statement here:
https://www.governor.virginia.gov/newsroom/all-releases/2020/june/headline-858213-en.html
It is a symbolic day to commemorate June 19, 1865 when a Major General arrived in Galveston, Texas to announce the end of the Civil War and the end of slavery, though the Emancipation Proclamation was signed approximately two years earlier.
As is our business, we take our citizen’s rights very seriously. While the courts and our office are operational (still at a limited status due to the current pandemic), our staff is free to come to work or take the day to themselves to reflect and commemorate, individually.
We are proud to be Virginians and Virginia criminal justice attorneys, but acknowledge not all of our history is so prideful. We, as a firm, strive for a greater justice each day. We are always looking towards equality for all and today is a good reminder to reflect on what more we could be doing to help our fellow man. We hope you all will do the same.
Thank you. Information credited and to learn more go to:
